From the beginning, You Assist has maintained an international focus when it comes to helping people in need. Recently, we shifted to a stateside focus, and chose to partner with Sarah’s Hope in Baltimore County, a 24-hour emergency shelter helping homeless families.
Sarah’s Hope provides meals, healthcare, and employment services, along with several other forms of assistance. It is a place of transition where families can feel safe, well-fed, and are supported through the process of moving back towards a fulfilling life. The organization has a record of success and a tradition of caring. We have met with staff as well as residents, and are consistently impressed with the spirit of the place and of the people.
You Assist has provided essential items such as clothes, shoes, kitchen utensils, flatware, and dishes as part of a move in kit for residents. We have seen first-hand how much these simple things are appreciated by people making better lives for themselves and their children.
As I hope you know by now, we operate differently than other charitable organizations. There are no overhead costs at You Assist. All those costs are absorbed by the board members which allows us to contribute directly to the project. Not a penny of contributions is ill-spent. There is nothing about You Assist that makes me prouder.
